Where have the 'System' and 'Power Options' icons in the Performance and
Maintenance tab of control panel gone?

How do I get them back?
Thanks

Which tabs are you talking about how did you get there? The System and Power
Options are in the Control Panel Folder. You can get there by going to the
start menu and selecting the Control Panel Icon or select to My Computer and
off to your right there is a similar Control Panel Icon.

The icons were there until recently. They have disappeared.

No I have not used Tweak. This is a new computer with Multimedia edition of
XP. The icons were there originally but now are missing in action. How can
I restore them?

See if you're able to launch the applets manually by running them directly:

Click Start, Run and type sysdm.cpl [Press Enter]
Click Start, Run and type powercfg.cpl [Press Enter]

If they open correctly, then start Regedit.exe and goto the following
branch:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\don't load]

Check if sysdm.cpl and powercfg.cpl entries are present there. If so, delete
them.

I tried your suggestion but this isn't the problem.
Any other ideas?
