I have Window defender installed and running. Somehow I got Contravirus
downloaded anyway. Now I can't get it off. Defender will pop up I will deny
the actions but it doesn't stop it. Does anyone know how to get it off.
PLEASE HELP
Thank you,

Hello Erica;

ContraVirus is a fraudulent rogue Anti-Spyware program, do not purchase it
under any circumstances. See the removal procedures here:

Did you download the ad protect toolbar? If so, that's how you got it.
Unfortunately, WD real-time protection is misunderstood. If you have the
real-time options configured to warn you about unclassified software, then
you will receive notification of attempts to modify the system registry. In
this situation, the malware got installed and put a run key in the system
registry. So everytime you logon to your account, Windows Defender real time
protection is alerting you. Deny just affects the run key. The fox is
already in the chicken house. You need to run a quick/full scan. After the
scan, WD should alert you to the malware and give you a chance to remove the
malware.
