Yes, because there is not physical contact between the CD and the pickup, and you can't corrupt the data by writing to a CDROM.

The eject button should stop the rotation and then open the drawer. If the eject button does not work, turn off the power, wait for the CD to stop spinning, and use a paper clip in the hole to manually eject the CD.
