It does have a Master Document feature, but it works so poorly that
most of the books on Word barely mention it.
There's almost no reason not to simply combine all your chapters into
one big document, probably with Section Breaks in between. Word can
handle documents with tens of megabytes of text (_plus_ graphics and
such).
