Please see my previous posts below.

I have tried every suggestion that everyone has given me. Are there any
more ideas? I don't have enough money to pay Microsoft MORE money for tech
support after I purchased their product.

Please help!

Sean

Most regulars here use a news reader rather than the horrible web interface
and CAN'T see your "posts below".

I think this will link you to the whole thread, but I'm not sure.
http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...8-dd74d1f690ec

Problem:
Any attempt to open a "New Email" "New Appointment" "New Task" or "New
Contact" meets with a little balloon in the bottom that says:

Could not complete the operation. one or more parameter values are invalid.

Measures tried, in order:
1) create new profile
2) create new .pst file
3) scan .pst for errors (many times--errors are often found and fixed, but
not the one that causes this problem apparently)
4) discovered that it works in Safe Mode so tried disabling add-ins one by one
5) reinstall dat-files
6) uninstall, reinstall Microsoft Office
7) tried this: http://ikbentomas.nl/officefix.html
8) removed all add-ins, restarting computer after.

The problem persists.

Thanks.

Sean

The fact that it works in Outlook Safe Mode means that it is very likely
that an external application is interfering with Outlook but doesn't expose
itself as an Outlook addin. Do you happen to have any sync software
installed for a mobile device? Uninstall that and try again. If it works
now, either troubleshoot that application or look for a later version.

To my knowledge, I do not.

The only possible sync software I could have is:

1) for my iPod, which is iTunes, which has been frequently updated and has
been on the computer as long as Office 2007. The add-in associated with
iTunes was disabled, then removed. To no affect.
2) for a SanDisk Cruzer USB key, but I just looked and I can't find any
software for any sync application installed.

I would like to note again, just in case, that this came up IMMEDIATELY
after I tried to use the Journal function in Outlook. Is it possible that
that is the cause of the problem?

I'm taking a lack of replies from all around to mean that nobody has any
further solutions. What's my next bet?

Do you happen to have Skype installed? That also integrates without exposing
itself. You can disable its integration only from within Skype.

Do you perhaps have an old version of ActiveSync or Palm Desktop installed
from a previous mobile device which might had?
The Journal feature just was a coincidence; you said it didn't work with a
new mail profile either and Journal is a per profile setting.
Could you again rename extend.dat and outcmd.dat to .old and then do a
repair on Office?

Note that we are all volunteers here and are answering these posts in our
own free time. We're neither employed nor getting paid by Microsoft to hang
around here. Sometimes we just need a little bit of extra free time to
rethink a certain issue in order to come up with a solution or strategy. If
you want dedicated support, it's best that you contact Microsoft Product
Support instead.

I do understand, and I'm not trying to sound indignant.

It's just that the last thread I was working on with this, people just
stopped talking on it. There was no "we give up" or "we have no idea" or
"call tech support." So I'm not trying to rush you, I'm just looking for
closure if you can't solve the problem. :-) Thanks.

Ok, no problem. In general you can see a thread as abandoned if you didn't
get a response after about 4 days. I sometimes mark a thread for myself if I
really want to solve it but simple don't have the time for it now. In those
cases I might still go back a month later or post it in an article on one of
my websites.

Anyway, check my reply in the other branch of this tree; perhaps it is
useful.
