Hello Pat, welcome to PC Review
You just need to alter a setting to stop your PC connecting when you don't want it to, so:
Click start, Settings, Control Panel.
In Control Panel, click Internet Options.
In the Internet Properties dialogue box, choose the Connections tab.
You should now see Dial-up Settings, and the name of your Internet connection. Highlight it, by clicking on it.
Below, you should see three options, which are:
Never dial a connection;
Dial whenever a network connection is not present;
Always dial my default connection.
You need to select "Never dial a connection" by clicking on the space next to it.
Click on "Apply" and finally "OK" and you're done.
(Never dial a connection means that your PC will not connect, until YOU manually want to connect.)
There is no snooze button on a cat who wants breakfast.
