I installed Service Pack 4 without archiving files. It now
contiously restart the system when I tried booting up.

Any suggestion how to correct this problem is deeply
appreciated.

Try booting in safe mode & see if that fixes it. Otherwise, you may be SOL.

I hit F8 the time the computer restarted and in the Safe
Mode with network support. I installed the remaining
Windows Update. I restarted the computer to its normal
mode and to date the problems seems disappear.
