Anyone know of a way of programmatically working out what's included in the
present View where the user may have set a filter - i.e. the display may
consist only of a subset of the contents of the folder on display rather
than the whole folder?

Can anyone point me in the right direction? This is Outlook 2003.

You can get the filter itself information from the View.XML property.
