I would appreciate leads on where to get
scripts/applications to alert Intranet users via e-mail
when content is updated on specific pages, like
watchthatpage.com and changedetection.com. Since it is an
Intranet, we cannot use those services.

there was a post recently about a couple of items including googlealert
which alerts people if sites they're watching change. you may want to put a
link to that specific page on google's service or look for other services
that do the same thing?
