Is there a way to show your contacts list in the navigation pane.

Reading the posts on various web pages, it appears this is no longer
possible. I thought WM was an improvement over OE. My mistake. I've not seen
any (other than cosmetic) improvements. Functionality appears to have
suffered.

That was the original concept, but Windows Mail was abandoned in June,
2006, while Vista was still in beta!

Yet it's still there with Vista. What's the point? We all use live mail now?
Isn't that just a repackaged hotmail? Were is MS headed with that? I guess
everyone either pays for MS Office or use Mozilla. If we're going to run
Mozilla we might as well use their browser too.

On the contrary. On this Windows 7 machine, I am using Thunderbird for
mail, and Vista's Windows Mail for news. (Yes, you can hack it in). I even
replaced Windows Live Movie Maker with Windows Movie Maker 2.6.

I don't like, and do not care to use anything with the "Live" branding.
(Much of the reason I'm a former MVP).

Why use Windows Mail for news? Thunderbird is a news client too is it not?

Yes, but I used OE for so long and WinMail is about equal. Plus, I want
separate programs for news and mail. To each his own.
