When in the address book, click on Tools and select Options.
Make sure Contacts is listed in all available fields. If it's not
available, then click on Go -> Contacts, right-click on his contacts and
select Properties. Click on the Outlook Address Book tab and make sure the
box is checked to show the folder as an email address book.
