Contacts in left column?

Does anyone know how to get Address Book contacts to show at the bottom of
the left hand (folders) column, as was possible in Outlook Express?

No, you can't do that.
But since the contacts are stored in a folder, you can leave the folder open
or minimized... and there are gadgets for contacts.
