Contact server for information every time I open an email? Why

The past week every time I try to open an email I get a message box saying
"contacting server for information". I can not cancel or close the box until
it is done. It happens mainly with emails that contain graphics. I am using
a PC and do not have a separate server. I have never had this problem until
the last few days. Any ideas as to where my problems is would be greatly
appreciated.
thanks, Rob

It is hard to say what is going on without knowing any configuration
details.
At the very least include your version of Outlook, the mail account type
that you are using and where the dialog appears (pop-up, new dialog,
tooltip, etc...).

Which version of Outlook are you using?
Which mail account type are you using?
Is this only happening for one specific message or for every message that
you receive?
