Over the past day or two I've noticed that Outlook 2007 is suddenly now
retrieving the entire message list from my pop3 email server, even though it
already has copies of them.

Is there anything I can do to stop this? I need to leave copies of them on
the server as I access that account by web-mail elsewhere.

Am running Outlook 2007 SP2 in Windows Vista 32-bit Home Premium.

That's a sign that the send/receive process is not completing successfully.
Outlook doesn't log the messages' UIDs until the send/receive process
completes properly.
