I hope somebody can help. Whenever I turn on the computer, the ISP
constantly tries to connect. We have actually unplugged the phone line and
the computer still tries to connect continuously during our typing of a
letter, etc... Also, my computer is very slow to load even pages such as "my
documents". When accessing a document I had previously saved, it would take a
long time to load. We run Windows XP and have ad-aware programming to
delete unwanted ads. We have also run "disk defragmentor" and "disk cleanup"
routinely. Any suggestions to get the ISP to stop connecting and for
computer to run at previous faster speeds.

Thanks.

Sure, get to your internet options(by opening internet
explorer and tools tab or control panel switch to clasic
view if you have to then internet options)connection
tab,,,you probably have dial when a network connection is
not present checked,,,you need to check never dial a
connection,,,apply,,,ok,,,That way it will only dial when
you open your ISP icon AOL,Netzero,MSN,or whatever, and
not everytime you turn your computer on.Next go back to
your internet connection delete cookies, delete files
(check box for offline content),clear history...this will
help you run faster, also you may want to go to
start,,,run,,,type in msconfig,,,ok,,,startup
tab,,,uncheck everything except for your anti
virus ,,,apply,,,ok,,,restart,,,check box that comes up
with dont show again,,,ok.if you don't like it go back
and check everything again.

You don't suppose you have spyware or a virus? Just a thought.
