Constant Internet Explorer Errors: Shuts internet explorer down

When I visit certain websites, such as www.chevy.com,
www.skateboard.com, and
even sometimes microsoft windows update, I get a nagging
error that forces IE to
close while sending an error report to microsoft. Usually,
the report dosen't
give much information (i.e. module: unknown). Even after
several re-formats, the
error keeps on coming back. I would like to be able to
browse the internet
without having constant errors. This happens on other
sites, as well. Here is
one copy of an error report:

The description for Event ID ( 1001 ) in Source (
Microsoft Internet Explorer )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the
necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from
a remote computer. The
following information is part of the event: 41325586.

That was from my event viewer. Here is an internet
explorer report from
skateboard.com:

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName:
unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00130008

Here is an internet explorer report from chevy.com:

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName:
jscript.dll
ModVer: 5.6.0.8513 Offset: 000059fa

I think that both of these errors are intertwined with
JavaScript because
disabiling this feature eliminates the errors. However, I
cannot have JavaScript
turned off due to the number of sites that require it.

Please, I beg for help!

In the past and present, first with Windows 95, then Windows 98 (1st), and
now with Windows 2000 Professional the solution was and still is to
reinstall Windows!

I'm the in process right this moment. You format the drive and do a clean
install, it's simple, should take couple of days, but results worth it.

Man, if you have RedHat Linux or FreeBSD you don't need to go through this.
Those platforms are fantastic in theory, thought hardware isn't always
supported. :-(
