I am using a new computer and cannot get the connector to open - it downloads
and I acknowledge terms and then it just says 'the installation of this
package failed' - I can't seem to find any information for this. I've checked
my email connections to Hotmail which are functioning correctly through
outlook. On my old computer it installed first time and worked perfectly -
has anyone any idea what is wrong?
Thanks...

Problem solved - I was trying to download as a user once I downloaded as the
administrator all fell into place...

You're contradicting yourself. You say the connect won't work, then you say
Outlook can access Hotmail just fine. It can't be both, since the Outlook
Connector is how you access Hotmail. If you can access Hotmail with Outlook,
the connector must be installed already and working.
