My ISP says that I am connected and I can ping the default gateway but when I
try to ping www.yahoo.com, (or anyother web site) it says 'could not find
host..." any idea what is going on here? fyi, using ADSL usb modem (modem
tested working fine with another pc). Thanks

Your ipconfig would show what you have for the default gateway and for
DNS. Normally if you can ping internally but not externally, you have
DNS set wrong. So make sure your DNS is set correctly - look at the
other PC's settings.

Another thing you can try is
Start>Run>cmd [enter]
ipconfig /flushdns

Also, make sure your computer is virus/malware-free:

We don't have a whole lot of information about your machine, so ask
yourself the First Question of Troubleshooting: what changed between
the time things worked and the time they didn't?

The settings are identically. Could it be the TCP/IP having problem, how can
we re-install ?

Using Adware SE 1.06 and normally when you do an update of the definitions,
it will automativally install into the program. How do you get the latest
definitions by itself so that I can install in another pc? Thanks

Go through these steps systematically:

When you go to the various sites for Spybot and Ad-aware, you will see
where you can download the definitions separately.
