Hi! (I am the only ADMIN on both computers in question.) Installed WinXP Home
(SP2 with various updates completed) yesterday on my daughters pc (which I'll
call "B" computer) which is part of a 2 pc network. The other computer (mine)
is running W2K Pro (which I'll call "A" computer), that is connected to the
internet via cable modem and 4-port D-Link router. (I also use static IP's
instead of allowing DHCP.) Prior to installing the new OS on "B" I had saved
certain folders to a shared folder on "A". When I attempted to reach these
shared folders on the "A" pc, after the new OS was installed , I got this
error msg:
"\\Flanhome is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the admin of this server to find out if you have
access permissions. The referenced account is currently locked out and may
not be logged on to."
Also, when I attempted to set up my shared printer (physically connected to
"A") on the "B" pc, it could not be found on the network.
Once I rebooted both computers, I was able to get to my shared folder on "A"
(and mapped it as a drive to my "B" pc). I could also see the shared printer
on the network now so I set it up, did a "Print Test Page" and it worked
fine. Everything WAS working! I logged off "B" pc to go have lunch and when I
came back to it a short while later, I got this error msg when trying to
access the network drive I had setup:
"An error occurred while reconnecting F: to \\Flanhome\Misc & Techi
Programs. Microsoft Windows Network: The referenced account is currently
locked out and may not be logged on to. This connection has not been
restored."
Can't get to the shared folder on "A" pc and the shared printer is
unreachable from "B" pc.
What is going on here? I'm definitely confused more than usual. How can I
correct this. And what is this baloney about not having permissions since I
AM the ADMIN on both PC's!?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
