Hello.

In a previous post I asked for help about a problem I have with my
Printer server. A solution that you gave me was to make a change at
the registry but it did not succeeded. Finally I made a dedicated
printer server that only has printers with the idea that with a new
machine it would not make that error. Didn't work, it appears anyway.
The error i receive is;

- The document could not be printed, because the printer is not
connected, not installed or is behind a VPN that prevents the
connection.

Some reasons for this message seems to be when the printer is switched
off, then something is send to print, and afterwards the printer is
switched on. Then this message appears. The error only affects that
printer and after accepting it, the documents start printing. The
Server is a Windows 2000 totally updated. Most computers at the office
uses Windows XP Pro, the rest Windows 2000 Pro. The printers are in
the network and installed locally throw IP ports. Keeping the printer
switched on all the time is not a solution I can have.

Is there anyway to prevent this message to appear?

Thank you for your support.

this is not a Windows error. Where do you see this error? What type of IP
ports are you using?

This message appears in the server. When installing the printers in
the server, I install them locally. The assistant gives me a choice to
use an IP instead of a LTP or USB port to add them. After giving the
IP and the drivers of the printer, it refers this as IP Port.

Most of the printers are HP Laserjet, if this may help with my
problem.

Are you using the Add Printer Wizard to create the printers? What is the
assistant?

If you are not using Standard TCP/IP Ports, I would switch to this port
type.

Yes, I'm using the Add printer wizard that comes with the Windows 2000
Server. I do everything with the options that the OS gives me, I don't
use any third program.
