Connection to my e-mail server?

With increasing frequency, my Outlook keeps losing connection with one of my
Internet providers (and thus my business IMAP e-mail account). I have been
going under edit to connect to it (which works well), but the problem seems
to be gettign worse. Could my Norton security software be causing this?

P.S. My Outlook's connection to my other POP e-mail account (a different
provider) has always worked.

Thanks.

Version of Outlook?
What's the exact error returned?

Yes, Norton could cause this. Disable its integration with Outlook and try
again.

Thanks. I have the new 2007 version. As I recall, the message is fairly
simple, saying something like "Outlook is offline...connection to (Internet
provider's mail server) was disconnected." It's strange...I started having
these problems when I switched over that address from a POP to an IMAP (at
the suggestion of my Internet provider).

I know so little about this stuff. Would disconnecting my Norton from my
Outlook be unsafe? Thanks,

No, virus scanner integration in Outlook is redundant and doesn't offer any
extra layer of protection.

I tried that and it didn't help. Do you think I should maybe switch the
protocol back to POP? I am at a loss, here. Thanks

That would be your choice ;-)
How's IMAP's performance of that account when using Outlook Express/Windows
Live Mail?
