Connection to MSDE Problems

I have a Windows 2003 Standard server with MSDE sp3
installed. On a cleint PC W2000 with Office2003. When I
try to creat a new adp project, I received the error
message "Method 'Open ' of object '_connection' failed"

Followed by "the new Database wizard only works SQL 6.5 or
later, please use dat source to connect to your sql
database" and then drops the wizard.

Yet when I try to import or link to the MSDE through a
User DSN, I have no problems what so ever. I have
configured the MSDE to Mixed environment and yet still
cannot connect through Access wizard.

Can anyone help
