What is the connection mechanism for Analysis Services

Hi,

I am investigating the possibility of referencing an OLAP datasource other
than Analysis Services.

What is the mechanism used to connect with Analysis Services. It would seem
that OLE DB for OLAP is it but I am unsure on how Excel discovers new
datasources.
