Connecting XP pro WS to NT 4 Domain???

We have an NT 4 server with win95, win98, win2k and XP
home machines as clients (all members of the domain) but
I cannot get XP pro workstation to connect to the domain.
I have manually added the workstation using server
manager on the NT4 Server and as soon as I added the name
it filled in the description so it is obviously talking
to the workstation. I can also ping the the server from
XPpro.
I have NetBIOS over TCPIP enabled under the WINS tab.
I cannot however see any machines on the LAN either as
workgroup or domain.
When I attempt to attach to a domain in accepts the user
account / domain but returns saying it did not find an
account for the computer on the domain. The name is spelt
correct proven by above.
We do not have a wins server but this has not affected
any other machine including XP home - all connect to the
domain.
Any clues gatefully appreciated.

Cheers
Jason
