I have some video on my pc that I want to show on my computer, but when I
connect the desktop to my television using a S-cable I only get a black and
white picture. Well not completely, when I first start it up the Windows
signa is in color, but after that the screen has no color. This leads me to
believe that it is some kind of step up I have to do in Windows, instead of
something wrong with my Tv.

Any help appreciated!

Where in World are you?
It could be a NTSC/PAL/SECAM issue.

I wouldn't think so considering that I am in America. Why I'm not just
taking the video off of the computer and onto a dvd to show on my tv, is
because the file I am talking about is a .mkv and so far I have been
unsuccessful in finding out how to change the formats and have it still work.
In turn I decided that hooking up my tv and computer would work best, but the
color issue is still bothering me. Am thinking of getting a HDMI cable which
would hopefully deal with the problem since it is such high resolution.

Alright I figured it out now, its because the S-Cable puts out a different
output then what the HDTV accepts, meaning you have to get a different type
of cable. Or otherwise the HDMI cable which has the correct influence. Keep
in mind that when you hook up the cable the resolution on your computer may
have to be set lower otherwise you will get a flickering color screen, but
otherwise the quality is great, looking like it came off a DVD (especially if
you are watching a movie off your computer.)

Thanks for the help everyone,
Anne
