I connected my VCR to the input on the x850xt, and loaded up the TV
component, and I get a NO SIGNAL warning in the middle of the screen
even though the signal is going through and I'm seeing what's on the
VCR. Any ideas?

I'm using the MMC 9.13 and the latest CCC drivers.

I believe that's a video output on the card, not an input.

No, it has inputs and outputs. Like I said, I saw the video running
while it was telling me "NO SIGNAL"

Another issue, when it does run the video, it freezes, starts up again
a second later, freezes again, etc. I'm guessing this is just typical
ATI crappy software.

VCR has composite output. If think if it has S-video out,
that should go to a display ... or go to the input of a
capture card. If your video card has S-video in capability,
I'm pretty sure you have to configure it in the driver ..
or possibly in a separate program that came with the
card. I even have to do that on my Hauppauge 350..
although I get better results with the composite-in
connector. Also, the program that works with your
x850xt may not install if you do not have a compatible
DVD-RW player, because it is meant to create mpgs,
and part of the install is to detect that recorder. Pain
in the posterior .. all the reading.

Like the man said. That plug is video output. S-Video out not in.

The X850XT has VIVO: video-in, video-out

Are al X850XTs the same? Is that single S-Video plug in and out? I have a
machine here that looks like one S-Video out and that is all.

I was wrong, that's not exactly an S-video plug. It has both
video in and out: http://www.guru3d.com/article/content/212/3/
