connecting two computers using usb ports?

I know with the old windows 95 and dos 6 you could
connect two computers using parallel port ,but can you
connect two computers using windows me and xp with usb
ports?

Here are two ways to do what you want:

1. Get a pair of USB Ethernet adapters and connect them to each other
just like Ethernet adapters that mount inside a computer. Connecting
two computers directly, without a hub, switch, or router, requires a
specially wired crossover cable.

2. Get a USB-to-USB networking cable. Here are some sites for more

In addition to the other reply, why not simply buy two cheap network cards?
Then you can either use a crossover cable or get a cheap hub & use
straight-through ethernet cables.
