I set up a small network of 4 computers running WinXP, and tried to
connect to each computer from another and it doesn't ask for username
or password when connecting to the other computers, but it does say
that some areas of the computer are inaccessible that I should see
the system adminstrator.
Should the system be this open that I can just connect and browse
thru files without logging into the other computers first remotely ?

I'm used to using Win2k where a logon is required for browsing or
file access thru the local network.

any ideas ??

Go to your folder options and turn off "simple file sharing" (disable's the
guest account). If these are XP Home, you don't have a choice. If they are
XP Pro, it works just like W2K.
