I have a Gateway MT6452 laptop connected to a LG 32LC2D HDTV with SVGA
cable. Followed installation instructions and connection works for about five
seconds before screen begins flashing and TV disconnects displaying "invalid
signal". Software problem, hardware problem, or stupid human installer
problem?!

Thanks Jim- The supported display resolution on the TV is 1024x768 60hz and
tv manual suggests setting the graphics card output to that. The flashing is
originating from the PC and I believe the TV is just disconnecting as a safety
feature, though their web site makes no reference to this. I have attempted
this installation with the Windows Media Center and get the same results.
Thanks again!

No luck as yet, shawna.9! I've adjusted the resolutions, disconnected
everything
else from the TV and still get the same flashing on the PC and TV, which
causes
the TV to disconnect. Would be grateful to hear how you got through it!

I have a Gateway MT6452 laptop connected to a LG 32LC2D HDTV with SVGA
cable. Followed installation instructions and connection works for about five
seconds before screen begins flashing and TV disconnects displaying "invalid
signal". I have also tried connecting a friend's HP laptop with similar
results.
I checked the SVGA cable, it's OK so it's PC or TV I guess. Thanks for
responding
shawna.9!

Thanks shawna.9

5) After selecting the correct "Monitor" Click the ADVANCED SETTINGS
option and then the "MONITOR" tab, there should be a check box that says
*"hide modes this monitor cannot display"*
_MAKE_SURE_THIS_BOX_IS_CHECKED!_(Cannot do this. Box remains gray
no matter which monitor is selected in the Advanced settings)

I'm bringing the laptop and cable to work tomorrow to test on monitors there.
Got a cyberhead there who thinks he can help. Followed all your instructions
with the exception of 5), still no good. Appreciate all your effort!! (Also
have a
call in to LG who claim all that's necessary is to 'plug it into the TV, the
computer
will recognize settings'!) Thanks again;-}

No luck. Laptop checks out. Works perfect on other monitors. SVGA cable is
good also. Put a message in with LG about the TV and one with Microsoft
about the software. We'll see.

Thanks for all your help shawna.9. I am running the programs as administrator
with the same results. Windows Vista support says to connect using S-video
cable and additional audio plug in. No word from Gateway or LG support. It
does
not make sense to me that I would have an SVGA hookup on the PC and TV and
have to use an inferior connection like S-video, so I will continue to
research
this. However, I have learned that I need to more fully research claims by the
manufacturers of aforementioned products before 'donating' to their R&D by
purchasing their products. Thanks again... Surfpoet
