connecting Canon EDOX printer to XP PC

All:

We have a couple of Canon EDOX print servers here at
Kollsman. They are running Windows 2000 server. I've got a
Canon Color 5000 printer connected to one that I cannot
connect to from a new XP workstation. New workstation is
WinXP Pro, SP1, Sony VAIO PCG-V505BCPWe normally install
the printer by searching through M/S network, or \\edox6578
(server name) and then click connect to install.

When I do on this pc, I get the following display in a
dialog box when I try to go into printer properties;

EFNTReg.c::AddUIInfoRegistryEntrys
SetString::REG_INFO Failed
