Connecting Bluetooth devices

All the Bluetooth devices (such as mice, keyboards, etc)
come with their own bluetooth adaptor. If you already
have a Bluetooth enabled PC (that is, it already has a
Bluetooth card in it), do you need to use the adaptor
that comes with the external device? Or can you just use
the existing Bluetooth adaptor?
