Do you want to have an online database?
Front Page is used, for the most part, to create web pages that are used on
the internet and/or intranets for company use.

Yes... if you want to go online you must make use of a web hosting service.

No! It is a different kind of animal.

There are free hosting services out there. Look carefully. For you to be
able to use Access you must have a web hosting service that uses Windows....
not Unix.

Security is usually pretty good with most web hosting companies.
Once you get a host, and get your site, including the database files,
published, etc You can set up forms that will show query results.
If you don't need to be online... Access has a pretty good form tool that
will show your results... but, of course, you will not be online.

Best to you.....

Hi -

I have an Access database that I want to connect to Front
Page but don't have a clue as to how to go about it.

When I use the Database Wizard, it asks me to connect to a
server. I don't have access to a server, and don't know
how to gain access to one. I have been told that I must
be connected to a web hosting service and that will solve
the server problem. Is this true? If so, how do I go
about connecting to a web host. Is a "web host" another
name for an Internet provider such as MSN or AOL? Is this
something that you pay for or are there such things as
free web hosts? If I connect my database to this and
continue working on it, is my data secure? I need to be
able to view query results from the database in forms in
Front Page, but can only do that if I am able to finally
connect to the database.

Thanks to anyone who can answer these questions!
