If the W2K box is a W2K Server running Terminal Services then you could use
Remote Desktop to connect to the machine. If its not then look at using
UltraVNC with its encryption plug-in as an alternative.

For added security over the public internet some folks run UltraVNC (or any
other flavor of VNC) through a VPN or SSH tunnel. Personally I use SSH for
remote access to my home LAN.
