I have 2 dell PC's both one with XP professional and one with XP home
edition, but I have only enough room for one monitor. If I am using one PC as
my main computer. Is it possible to connect this computer to the other
hardrive (just for the purpose of accessing the files on the other PC). I
would like to do this without buying extra hardware if possible.

You can't connect a computer to a harddrive, but you can install
the second computer's hard drive in the first computer
temporarily, and transfer any needed files over.

Or if you want to do this on a regular basis, you may want to
invest in a KVM switch, which lets you share a monitor and
keyboard between two computers.
