I have Outlook 07 on my desktop, I use the mail (a pop3 server), many
contacts, most importantly my calendar.

I travel with my notebook that also has Outlook 2007. Is there a way to sync
the notebook with the desktop remotely via the Internet?

So I can enter a calendar data on the notebook, it will then be on the
desktop, and of course see all (new and old) mail.

You can either sync it via your mobile phone or via a sync application.
For mobile phone software see;

For other sync applications to sync via the Internet, local network or thumb
drive see;
