I am working on a computer in which the domain has been
physically deleted by the user. The computer accesses the
internet ok but now will not connect to the network
domain. I know you can reconnect by having physically connected to the
domain network then log on with local administrator to re-connect to
the domain.
However, the domain network is in China. And the user now is in Japan.
He needs to have access to his China domain account within the
computer so he can access to files in the account profile.

Thanks,

Chong

try logging in as a local admin and open up the properties
of my computer. Select the Computer Name Tab and click
change. Change the domain to a workgroup. Caution - you
will need the password of a user authorised to remove the
computer from a domain. the local admin might im not
sure. If not and ur using xp, allow remote access and
contact the admin in china. They should either be able to
login to your computer under admin and remove it from the
domain or give you the password (the latter unlikely)

These steps work for xp, similar in 2k but no remote admin
unless you install it.

Luke, you are telling me steps to remove a machine from a domain.
That's something I already know.

What I need to know is to re-join the machine to a domain wherethe
machine once was a member of, WITHOUT having physical connection to
the domain network.
I wonder if registry modification or some kind of tool would let me do
this..

Anybody ??
