I have a laptop Compaq Presario X1000 and the harddisk
is damaged so I can not use the operating system, XP Home to
save my files.

Is it possible to connect the disk in my ordinary PC
so I can save my files?

It is IDE, the connector looks the same but are they compatible?

Ralph

You can buy a $5.00 adapter to connect the laptop disk
to your desktop's IDE controller. I do not recommend it:
There is a big risk of making the connection back to front,
in which case the disk will be destroyed immediately.

A much safer way is to buy a $15.00 USB case for your
laptop disk.
