here's the deal. I have 2 PC's both running XP Pro. I have 1 HTC S620
(T-Mobile Dash) running Windows Mobile 5, with Total internet package. I
connect my HTC to 1 of my PC's for internet, using the HTC as a modem. I am
told, the easiest way to do the exact same thing I stated above and be able
to have net connection to BOTH PC's, is by using an ethernet cable. How do I
know what kind of cable I need? Is there add'l software I have to download
or any other things I need to purchase? Or is an eth. cable even really the
easiest way to accomplish 2 net connections with 1 mobile modem? HELP!! I'm
not totally computer illiterate, but detailed instruction would be VERY MUCH
appreciated. THanks in advance for your time and help!!!!

Frankly I think you'll find that this won't be a particularly satisfactory
arrangement if data speeds are low.

But yes, you can do this, and you technically don't need anything more than
what you now have, beyond an ethernet crossover cable (assuming both systems
have working ethernet adapters).

It seems that you connect the HTC S620 to one system using USB cable, and
set it up as a modem. Apparently you've already done this part.

You turn on and configure Internet Connection Sharing on both systems. The
one with the phone attached is the "server". You must also pay attention
to the firewall.

You then dial the ISP and log in.

The other system is connected to the first by one of two ways. Either you
use a crossover cable, or you use an ethernet switch (or a hub) and two
standard ethernet cables.

If you use the extra hub or switch, you use standard cables you can get
almost anywhere. If you don't use that extra hardware, you must use a
crossover cable. These normally have contrasting-colour ends to
differentiate them from standard cables (on some of mine, the cable is blue
and the ends are yellow). If you use one where the other is required,
things just won't work.

Yes, this means that both systems have to have working ethernet adapters.
If they don't... these are cheap and trivial to install.

You'll want to google "Internet Connection Sharing XP", which will give you
links like these:
