I have two computers , one desktop and one notebook IBM
Thinkpad , how can I connect both to the same cable modem
to share the internet connection I have.
I would appreciate if someone has any hints.

Thanks.

1. Purchase one wireless internet router

2. Purchase a wireless adapter card for your laptop

In order to do this you need to get a broadband router with built in
switch. The modem and the computers all plug into the router. The
router sorts everything out. I have used both MS and D-Link routers and
both are very user friendly and have good documentation for beginners.

You can choose either wired or wireless connections. (again I've used
both) Wired are of course cheaper, but then you have to string cables
around the house. Wireless is more expensive, slower, and less reliable
due to interference factors.

If you need more specific help on how to set this all up email me, I'd
be glad to help. (E-Mail Removed)

Don't overlook "Internet Connection Sharing" (ICS), which is described in
Help. The host computer needs to be running to grant the client access,
which is not necessary in Knoj's solution.
