conflicting versions of office and outlook

I ran office diagnostics and was told I had 2 conflicting versions of office
( and outlook) on the computer. ADD/Remove programs would not remove Office
2003 - kept saying it could not locate the source. Outlook runs incredibly
slow - could this be a reason and how do I remove office 2003?
