I'm running windows xp pro - and fp 2003 - just learning 2003 - when I go to
publish - sometimes it will say that the page on the local host is in
conflict with pages on the remote host....and then offers me the options of
ignore/rewrite/cancel - why does it say this? what does conflict actually
mean?

Pam,

When you View your remote website and click the "Publish" command, FrontPage will compare the files on the local disk to the remote server.

If you have changed a file name or contents of a file, FrontPage will recognize that and prompt you for the actions you wish to take.

For example you may have changed your home page on your local disk with a new image and some text, when you save the changes and go to View Remote Website, the files will show a conflict because one is different than the other. This is why you are seeing the message on occasion.

If you wish to update your host server with the new file(s), just select "Overwrite" and FrontPage will update your host server files with the local files.
