Conflict that might deal with Messenger...

Hi everyone. First time doing this, but I've got a problem with XP. I
decided to install MSN Messenger 6.1 instead of using the Windows Messenger.
For some reason though, after I did that[installed MSN Messenger and
uninstalled Windows Messenger] whenever I dial a connection everything
really slows down as far as the processes are concerned. I try doing the
good ole CTRL + ALT + DEL and even the task manager won't open until I
disconnect the dial-up connection. After I start another connection there
are no problems, but it is getting to be really annoying and I think it
might have to do with Windows Messenger because when I look at the
processes, Window Messenger is running in the background. Hell, Window
Messenger still shows up on my hard drive even though I uninstalled the
component. How do I fix this?

Regards,
Daniel
