I just got off the phone with microsoft

if you installed the fixit pertaining to The vulnerability in Microsoft
Video ActiveX , this patch will not be offered kb973346
if it did not install properly you will see it
Microsoft told me I do not have to reinstall kb97336 unless I am seeing it.
If I am seeing it in WU then it did not install properly when the fixit was
used
I called 1866 PC Safety

Let's see if I understood that. If the recent fixit patch was correctly installed, then after MS or Windows Update completes its scan, update KB973346 will not show; otherwise, it will. I saw two patches today, neither of them 973346, meaning the previous fixit was ok.

Great public service you did there, Robin - clears everything up nicely.
Thanks very much.

I'm offered the MSRT and two others - not the KB973346, so my previous fix
is OK.

Cheers,
Alan D

It would be interesting to search your hard drive for "kb973346".

I found several references on mine system after the update.

Please read "mine system" above as "my system".

(Sheepishly exit stage left.)

if you are on xp pro I did not have to reboot
but I had to on xp home
also you saw 973346 because either your fixit did not stick or you did not
put it on
I also saw 973346 in vista and was wondering because Microsoft originally
said it was only for xp. I guess they wanted to be safe then sorry

I do run XP Pro with IE6 and I don't even remember doing any fix, so who
knows. God my mind is going-going-gone. LOL

Have a good one. JJ
