I am running Windows 2000. Yesterday it as up to Service Pack #3. Today
however I have tried a number of things to solve the problems I have having
with it.

When it starts I always get Error #49 with the following text:
Configuring the Page file for crash dump failed. Make sure there is a page
file on the boot partition and that is large enough to contain all physical
memory.

This will also cause the spooler service to not be able to load. And so I
can't print.

To fix this I have increase my page file size. I have also set Windows to
write nothing in the event of a system failiure KB # 226448. I have also
loaded service pack #4. I have also run chkdisk through Windows 2000. I
have also defraged the hard drive several times, improving the drive with
each pass. Lastly I raised the page file size to 512 Mb (I've had it as
high as 750). After scrubbing off more useless files, I have about 2.8 Gb
of spare space on the sole partiition on this computer. All with no change.
This problem started out of the blue yesterday. I do not recall loading
anything new on Wednesday or Thursday, not even a printer.

So I am puzzled and would appreciate any insights that you might have.

Bob, have a look at MSKB article 226448.

Should take care of everything.
