Configuring Outlook 97 with a LAN mail server

I just finished installing Outlook 97 on my windows XP client and I have a LAN mail server on my Win2K. I can successfully send/receive using Outlook Express. How can I configure Outlook to send and receive mail from mailserver? I need urgent urgent help please

What type of server is it -- POP, IMAP?

So it's POP. You need to download and install the Internet Mail Enhancement
Patch or Office 97 SP2. See

Also note: The newsgroup interface you are using apparently does not quote

I am using Outlook 97, I installed sr1 and sr2 service packs and I still can't find how to set OL to collect mail via LAN to my LAN mail server pop and smtp. How can I and what menu to follow to connect? I know to configure OExpress and works fine. Help hel

You must add the Internet E-mail Service to the profile either through the
Tools | Services dialog in Outlook or the Mail applet in Control Panel.
