I need to setup a computer (running Windows Xp Professional) that will be
used by the general public. I want to limit most of the functionalities so
that user could not change any configuration not even browsing Windows
Explorer.

The purpose of this computer is to allow the user to use this computer to
browse our company website only. Nothing else should be enabled but the
Internet Explorer. The internet explorer will be displayed all the time on
the desktop, the close button should be disable. The windows shut down option
is disable.

I hope i make myself clear here. All I want to do is disable all
programs/tools but the Internet Explorer.

Again, my computer is not a terminal.

Thanks

You might want to take a look at Microsoft's Shared Computer Toolkit for
Windows XP.

Hi John John

I've almost configured the way that I want my computer. One more issue, how
can I configure the Internet Explorer to allow user to visit only our company
website and all the external links that are linked in our website.

By assiging the proxy exception, it allows the user to visit our company
website only and they could not see the external site.

Any suggestion? By the way, how to make the Internet Explorer automatically
run at starts up and disable the X close button?

Thanks again! You are the best!

I'm not the best when it comes to Internet Explorer! ;-) I never was a
big fan of IE and it's not an application that I have ever used much.
You should probably ask about this in one of the Internet Explorer
groups where the experts can give you the best advice.
