I have setup an Exchagne 2003 server in a domain environment. I can login to
the OWA page and see my mailbox. When I look at the GAL, I also see my name
as an address in there. However, when I go to configure outlook for
Exchange, I get an error message saying "The action could not be completed.
The bookmark is not valid." I can ping the exchange server by name from my
pc, and the mailbox in Sysman shows it exactly the way I have typed it.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

State the exact steps you're taking to do this. Also state your Outlook
version.

I am using Server 2003 Std. with Exchange 2003, and outlook is 2003 is
running on Windows XP SP2. When I go to Mail in Control Panel and choose Add
new e-mail account. Then I choose Microsoft Exchange Server and it askes for
the server name (test4), I leave the check box in the Use Cached Exchange
Mode, and put in my user id (I have also tried my full name here). When I
click on Check name, it comes back with the error message, "Unable to
complete the request. The bookmark is not valid." When I click on Ok, it
brings up another window to try the server name and user name again.
Sometimes on the second attempt it says, "Unable to resolved the server or
user id." I can ping the server by name from the machine, and the machine
from the server.

Thanks.

Have you tried using the fully-qualified server name?

Actually, I did try this first off. The key to this problem was patients.
After 48 hrs of a weekend, I came in this morning, and it worked right off
and has been running great! I appriciate the help and attempt. I couldn't
imagine what would take so long for the GAL to catch up, but it finally did.

Thanks again Brian,
Jason
