I have been trying to link my hotmail account (free version) with Outlook
2002. I know that is has to configured as a POP3, but do I need to download
anything else?

I have tried numeous times, followed the instructions as far as the info to
input in the email settings, but it is still not working. After inputing the
info when I hit "test account settings" error messages are popping up for all
except "establish network connection." It says, the internet connection was
found, but errors for everything else.
Log into incoming mail server: The specified server was found, but there was
no response from the incoming server

Find incoming mail server: unable to connect to the incoming server.

Find outgoing mail server: UNable to connect to the outgoing mail server.

Send test message: The specified server was found, but there was no response
from the server.

I have entered the correct ports (tried all 3 (25, 587, 995) for the
outgoing and 995 for the incoming.

What else could be causing this?

Outgoing: smtp.live.com, port 587, select SSL, username is full email
address, server is set to require authentication?

Incoming: pop3.live.com, port 995, select SSL, username is full email
address?

If not, adjust so they are. Otherwise, I don't have anything to add. Those
ports and settings work for me across MS Outlook Express 6, Mozilla
Thunderbird, and Pegasus Mail.

You never mentioned enabling SSL on POP and SMTP connects. It's
required. See:
