I thought I was adding a second post to Tammy's comments,
but it seems to have gotten lost in Cyberspace.
I am now getting the "Microsoft Windows has recovered from
a serious error" message almost every time I turn on my
computer. I can't get rid of the error window unless I
log on to the internet and send the report -- and
sometimes even then the window will pop up over and over
again.
The error log says it is due to a problem with a device
driver and further investigation shows that the culprit is
the Conexant HSFi V92 MiniPCI Modem -- yet when I run a
systems check (troubleshoot) on the driver, I get a
message that says it is functioning properly and there
aren't any new updates. I tried doing a 'roll back' to
the previous driver, but that doesn't seem to be doing
anything.
I'm wondering if AOL has something to do with the
problem. I installed AOL 9.0 about a week ago, but it
wasn't functioning the way I wanted it to, so I used "Go
Back" to restore my hard drive to the way it was before
the installation -- and I am now back to AOL 8.0.
I've just spent about 40 hours resolving a major problem
which occurred due to an incompatibility between XP and
the latest McAfee Virus Scan Online -- so I don't want to
do a system restore, because I've finally got that
stable. Does anyone have any suggestions?
