Hi folks,
I have a small VB app and I've created a deployment project for it. At the
end of installation I would like the user to get a prompt like "Run your new
program now? yes/no" -- or text/buttons to that effect. I would then like
the program to launch after installation is complete.
I have a few questions about this. Any help would be appreciated:
1. In the User Interface Editor, I added a RadioButtons dialog to the End
category, just before the Finish dialog, to prompt the user -- it won't let
me put it at the very end. Does this mean there is no way to have the final
dialog read "everything's installed, would you like to run it now?" and then
have the app launch depending on what the user says?
2. I did manage to get the app to launch, but it launches BEFORE the
RadioButtons dialog! Does this mean I have to have the user specifiy
whether or not he runs the program after installation way back at the
beginning of the install?
3. When the app launches, the installer hangs until I quit the app. How do
I have the installer continue/asychronously call the app? Actually, I'd
REALLY like to know how to get the app to launch just after -- or just as --
the installer quits.
4. Is there a way -- and what is that way -- to have an a user prompted
then, according to his answer, run the newly installed application after the
installer quits?
